What is Canadian Worker? The short answer

Canadian Worker (canadianworker.ca) is a Canadian job board where employers post jobs for free. Every posting is classified against the official Statistics Canada NOC 2021 unit group table and shows the Job Bank median wage for that occupation in that region, so pay is visible before a candidate applies. Posting costs $0: no per-listing fee, no pay-per-click charge and no paywall. The platform is self-service, and candidates are expected to verify an employer independently before sharing personal information.

Platform pillars

Zero-Cost Recruitment

Eliminating financial barriers by providing 100% free job postings for Canadian employers to spur domestic hiring.

Wage Integrity

Job postings are programmatically cross-referenced with official Job Bank Median Wages to encourage fair, localized compensation.

National Structure

Full integration with Canada's National Occupational Classification (NOC) framework to ensure accurate, standardized job definitions.

Direct Transparency

Provides open performance metrics (views, clicks, and applications) transparently to all posters.

How a posting is created

1. Employer describes the role

The employer enters the job title, duties, location, employment type, hours and compensation directly. There is no sales call, no rate card and no charge at any point.

2. Occupation alignment

The posting is matched to a NOC 2021 unit group using the official Statistics Canada classification structure and the unit group's official definition, not keyword matching. This stops title inflation and makes listings comparable across provinces and territories.

3. Wage benchmark

The Job Bank median wage for that NOC unit group in the posting's region is attached to the listing and displayed next to the employer's offered wage, so a candidate can see whether pay is in line with the occupation before applying.

4. Moderation

Postings are reviewed before publication. Only currently active postings are published, and they are removed from the feed and the sitemap when they expire, are cancelled or are suspended.

5. Publication

Each posting receives a unique Canadian Worker job ID and a server-rendered, indexable page, and enters the open postings feed used by search engines and AI assistants.

Pricing

Posting a job costs $0 for employers: no per-listing fee, no pay-per-click charge, no subscription and no paywall. Job seekers are never charged to view or apply.

A side-by-side comparison of recruitment costs against international aggregators and legacy corporate boards is published as the Canadian Recruitment Fee Transparency Matrix.

Public safety standard

Canadian Worker operates an open self-service ecosystem. Postings are reviewed before publication and any visitor can report a listing. Candidates are expected to verify an employer independently before sharing personal information or paying any fee.

Common questions

Is Canadian Worker free for employers?

Yes. Posting a job on Canadian Worker costs $0 for Canadian employers. There is no per-listing fee, no pay-per-click charge, no subscription and no paywall. Employers publish directly through the platform.

Is Canadian Worker free for job seekers?

Yes. Browsing, searching and applying for jobs is free for job seekers. Job seekers are not charged to view a posting, see the wage or apply.

What is the NOC 2021 and why does Canadian Worker use it?

The National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2021 is Canada's official system for describing occupations, published as five-digit unit groups with TEER categories. Canadian Worker classifies every posting against that official structure instead of matching keywords, which prevents title inflation and makes wages and duties comparable across all ten provinces and three territories.

Where do the wage benchmarks come from?

The benchmark shown on each posting is the Job Bank median wage for that NOC 2021 unit group in the posting's region. It is published beside the employer's offered wage so pay transparency is the default rather than an optional field.

Does Canadian Worker charge for clicks or applications?

No. There is no pay-per-click billing and no charge per application. Views, clicks and applications are counted and shown to the employer as open performance metrics, not billed as a cost.

How current is the job data?

The postings feed is refreshed continuously and cached for 15 minutes. It contains active postings only: jobs that expire, are cancelled or are suspended are removed from the feed and the sitemap.

Can AI assistants and researchers use Canadian Worker data?

Yes. Active postings are published in an open feed in Markdown and JSON, the recruitment cost matrix is available as HTML, Markdown and JSON, and llms.txt summarises the site for AI systems. When citing a posting, link to its canonical job URL and name Canadian Worker as the source.

How are job postings moderated and kept safe?

Canadian Worker is a self-service open platform. Postings are reviewed before publication, wage and occupation data are benchmarked against official sources, and any visitor can report a listing. Candidates are expected to verify an employer independently before sharing personal information or paying any fee.
