Job Description

Overseeing daily operations of a hog farm, the Hog Farm Supervisor manages livestock care, ensures regulatory compliance, and coordinates staff tasks. Responsibilities encompass feed management, health monitoring, and productivity optimization.


Responsibilities:

·        Supervise and coordinate all activities on the hog farm, including feeding, breeding, artificial insemination, maintenance tasks and other related programs.

·        Monitor the health and welfare of the hogs and ensure that they receive proper care and treatment as needed.

·        Train, coordinate and supervise farm workers, ensuring that they follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols.

·        Maintain accurate records of animal health, breeding, and production data, and prepare reports as required.

·        Ensure farm safety, food safety and security, and bio-security procedures are maintained and followed.

·        Manage inventory of feed, supplies, and equipment, and order additional items as needed.

·        Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards, including biosecurity and animal welfare requirements.

·        Work with veterinarians, nutritionists, and other industry professionals to optimize herd health and production.

·        Participate in the development and implementation of farm policies and procedures, and provide input on operational improvements and cost-saving measures.

Education Requirements
Trade Certificate or Diploma of at least 1 year
Other Requirements
• At least 4-5 years of experience in working on a hog farm in a specialised livestock worker capacity. • In Depth Knowledge of pig breeding and genetics • Ability to manage and supervise a team of farm workers effectively • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills • Proficiency in record-keeping and data analysis • Understanding of animal welfare regulations and compliance • Good communication and interpersonal skills • Physically fit and able to perform manual labor as needed
